ToggleDHA Eligiblity And DHA License Difference: Moving Between Emirates Made Easy
If you’re a nurse, physician, or healthcare professional working in one emirate and planning to move to another — like from Dubai to Abu Dhabi — you’ve probably wondered:
“Can I just transfer my DHA licence or eligibility? What’s the difference, and what do I need to do?”
Don’t worry! I’ve broken it down for you in a simple, practical way so your move is smooth and stress-free.
Licence vs Eligibility: What’s the Difference?
DHA Eligibility Letter
Confirms that you’re eligible to apply for a DHA licence.
Important: It does not allow you to practise yet.
Think of it as a “green light” to start your licensing process.
DHA Practising Licence
Official licence that lets you work legally in Dubai or another emirate.
Having a licence makes transferring much easier — most other emirates (like Abu Dhabi) require an active practising licence, not just eligibility.
Transferring Between Emirates
If You Have Only DHA Eligibility
Most emirates, including Abu Dhabi (DOH), may not accept eligibility letters alone for transfer.
You’ll usually need to complete your DHA licence first:
Finish DataFlow / PSV verification
Obtain a Good Standing Certificate
Get your DHA practising licence
Once you have a full DHA licence, you can request a transfer to DOH with your new employer (like SEHA in Abu Dhabi).
If You Have a DHA Practising Licence
This is much smoother!
Your current licence, along with your Good Standing Certificate and completed DataFlow, is usually enough for your new employer in another emirate to start the transfer process.
Documents Needed for Licence Transfer
To make your transfer successful, you should prepare the following documents:
1. Passport copy – valid and clear.
2. DHA practising licence copy – mandatory if you’re transferring as a licensed professional.
3. DHA Good Standing Certificate – confirms no disciplinary actions.
4.Current Employment/Experience Letter – optional but helps speed up the transfer.
5.Educational Certificates – degree and transcripts, attested or in English if required.
6.Professional Experience Certificates – previous work experience supporting your licence.
7.PSV / DataFlow Verification Report – proof that your credentials are verified.
8.Medical Fitness Certificate – some emirates require this for health clearance.
9.Job Offer or Sponsorship Letter – from the new facility in the receiving emirate (e.g., SEHA for Abu Dhabi).
10.Visa / Residence Permit – proof of legal residence in the UAE (or in process).
Personal Tip:
“Many nurses make the mistake of thinking eligibility is enough. Always get your DHA practising licence first — then request your Good Standing Certificate and employment letter. It saves time, stress, and makes transferring between emirates much easier!”
